I got something like that on my timeline recently (although in Portuguese, even if
both languages share the same accents.)

I did change the regexp slightly trying to solve this: Instead of the "\w+", I this:

self.tag_regexp = r'#[^ ' + string.punctuation + ']+'

(it requires the module "string" to be imported, at the top of the file.)

The idea is to catch everything till it finds a space or a punctuation. So far, it
seems to be working, although I didn't get any accented words yet. This, in theory,
should solve the problem to every language.

\w should, in theory, solve the problem since it should respect LOCALE (or, at least,
that's what the docs say.) I run my system mostly in en_AU, so that might explain why
my regex don't work for me...)
The way I see it, we need to update the "update()" method to return the

Well, first of all, let me say that I'm sorry not answering this sooner. Kinda
fighting some flu.

There are some changes in the codebase between 0.4.5 and 1.0.0. I really can't
remember everything that changed so I'll have to answer the best I know (which may
not be right.)

The extension for the config file really changed. It was CFG but for some reason I
decided to switch to INI when I added ConfigOpt (probably 'cause the format itself is
an INI.)

I think the only real section in Mitter 0.4.5 is Mitter. pygtk and all would appear
if you use a different interface. For example, if you always used the cmd interface
and never run the PyGTK one, the pygtk section would never appear (and I think the
cmd interface don't have any options.) In 1.0.0, the Mitter section is even smaller
(and it's called "General" now.)

So, a bit of history: ;)

In Mitter 0.4.5, I was aiming for a Twitter client with multiple interfaces. Then I
got somewhat tired of Twitter and decided the best future for Mitter would be
supporting multiple networks (like Jaiku, Identi.ca and so on.) That's when the
alphas for 1.0.0 appeared.

For Mitter 1.0.0, I created a new options management system, called ConfigOpt (which
is also hosted here on Google Code.) Because of that and the idea of supporting
multiple networks AND multiple interfaces, some sections changed. For example,
instead of "Mitter", there is "General" section I mentioned before. The settings for
Twitter (username and password) moved from the old "Mitter" section to "Twitter".
"pygtk" is still "pygtk", but with a lot more options due my idea of removing every
hardcoded values and putting them in the config file (the main reason for that was
that people were asking to change the URL for Twitter to the URL for Identi.ca [since
both support a very close API -- or did, at the time].) So, moving everything to the
config file made more sense than editing Python files directly.

This change in the config file also solved a big problem we had: How to support
proxies. This was solved adding the NetworkManager section, which didn't exist before.

So, in Mitter 1.0.0, the only section that are almost sure will exist always are
"General" and "NetworkManager". When we add new networks (which was the plan for
1.0.0, but I kinda moved it to 1.1.0), then even the "Twitter" section may disappear
in case the user don't set up the Twitter network but Identi.ca (if we support
Identi.ca, I'm not sure which will be the next network yet.)

Hi again, I am working on documentation and I have some doubts :

1.- I see when you start mitter with PyGTK GUI and configures it the very first time
it creates for you a .mitter.cfg file nor an .INI one (at leat on 0.45) I am nor
pretty sure if is the same in the latest version. As I can understand that correct
extension is .cfg

2.- My plan is document the file in two sections :
One : Basic Sections, which AFAIK are : [Mitter] and [pygtk], also I tried removing
the options which specify positions and size of GUI letting interval and it also
works, loading the GUI with default values.
Two : Network Sections : Network Manager and Twitter.

3.- Is it possible to change the preferred type of connection (http, htpps) to the
twitter section? because it would be great to separate the user information/profile
section and preferences, speaking about Mitter per se (which belongs to Mitter
Section) from Networking Sections (such as Twitter and Network Manager). I do not
know if I am explaining well. It is something like :

[Mitter]
username, password, refresh interval

[Twitter]
https and others

[Network Manager]
options of network manager section

What do you think?. IMHO, IMHO it would be easier to understand, at least that is
what I think and actually for easy to follow documentation. I have my hands on it
right now and I had that things in mind, sorry if I am bothering you. It is I am
really happy to contribute in ways that I can. Actually if a take some hours during
this week I can change that things in the source code and test them.

I hope to help :D

On my ubuntu, I changed the close shortcut to Ctrl+Q. This creates two
events for the GTK app:

one is the destroy event: the window manager catches its shortcut and
destroys the window.

the second is the delete-event event: the GTK app gets the shortcut and
sends the signal.

since in Mitter both events call "self._quit_app", the function is called
twice; with the second request, since there isn't a window, default values
are returned, thus destroying the current position.
